Hello (sorry me again)

My littlen is 12 weeks today, in the last week she seems to have quite vivid dreams, i.e. she makes funny noises in her sleep and she has also started crying in her sleep. Sometimes it wakes her up othertimes she settles herself again. Can they have BAD dreams already????
She is usually such a happy baby it just makes me wonder if everything is alright. It isn't wind i don't think as she always has a good burp after her feed......any idea's and am hoping you are all going to say it is nothing to worry about :-)

Thanks

don't say sorry! hello

it's nothing to worry about they do make funny noises, my ds(5) sort of cried out in his sleep last night, frightened the life out of me but he was dozing soundly (must have been dreaming of Dr who)

Thanks for that, i just can't understand what they dream about at 12 weeks, maybe sour milk ;-)

Hi there, she is probably a little young for them to be true dreams in the sense that adults dream. Babies have sleep cycles of deep and light sleep just as we do. Often as adults during a light sleep we will turn over, sit up, murmer, call out etc it is the same for babies so she is crying out a little during the light period of her sleep before the cycle kicks back around to deep sleep again. It is very normal and nothing at all to worry about. You just start doing the wait and listen to see if she is going to fully wake or not. HTH>

Thanks a bunch it puts my mind at rest. People don't tell you when you first fall pregnant how much worrying is actually involved with a baby!!! :-)

my son is 19 weeks and does the same thing! he goes from deep sleep to suddenly crying and then drops straight back off. its odd to watch but perfectly normal. xxx

DD did it too and still does it at 13 months!!!
Because sometimes her cry did sound louder, we went to pick her up AND BIG MISTAKE... she wasn't ready to wake up and it all goes wrong for the rest of the day. So I would suggest to not disturb her until she is fully awake...And like yours Haily, our little DD is a very happy little one during the day, it is very bizarre

Haily111 · 28/08/2006 12:58

Very bizarre indeed, but it makes me feel better that others have the same experiences :-)

my dd did this at 16 weeks, i found it really upsetting as she was terribly distressed. it came from nowhere, as if someone had pinched her or something. i did notice, however, that it coincided witht me putting her into a grobag for the first time, so i think she was a bit over-heated. took her out of the grobag and she was fine.

Haily111 · 29/08/2006 09:55

Aitch71 - that could be right with the overheating. It has cooled down a lot where i live and she hasn't been doing it as much!

DD used to do this and someone once told me that they can have dreams relating to the delivery. not sure if that a load of bull though. personally i don't believe it although delivery was horrfic and it gives me bloody nightmares!!

Haily111 · 31/08/2006 15:16

Spanielears did you have a C-Section?

I had one, and if the dreams are related to that, that would be awful. Oh bless their little cotton socks!
