Rock hard lump = skull fracture? Or over thinking?

So 2 1/2 weeks ago my son ( 3 ) jumped up to give my husband a hug and caught him on the chin, husband screamed in pain, son laughed and thought nothing of it.
Noticed a hard swelling that evening about the size of a 50p, no other problems etc, we had gone to a theme park for the day.
Now there's still no other symptoms but it's still there, about half the size, causes no pain when I touch / prod it.
No softness, no sharp bits that I've read indicate skull fractures but it just seems to be taking a long time to go away.
I'm worried it could have been a tiny fracture and is now healing itself??
I saw the nurse yesterday as he had his pre school jabs, she said they can linger but if no other symptoms can't imagine a&e would do an X-ray anyway, and to see a doctor in a weeks time if I'm still worried so not all that helpful!

As long as your DS is alert and his normal self I wouldn't worry. Had he had a significant head injury he would have been lethargic (sleepy) after, or have been vomiting, complaining of a headache. If he did fracture his skull there is no real treatment as it will heal by itself. If the head injury was significant enough to have caused any other damage he would have been displaying symptoms. But I'm no expert and if you are still concerned please see your GP. Your GP should be able to refer for an X-ray/CT scan should he/she deem that necessary. HTH

Thankyou
No other symptoms at all and my head is telling me a jump for a hug and catching my husband on the chin surely can't be enough to warrant a bloody skull fracture?
But just confused that this bump is so rock hard almost feels like a bony lump but he's insisting it's not sore at all!
It's gone down significantly since it happened so I'm sure it's nothing, just swelling of the skin etc but if I'm still worried by next week I'll take him as its then been 3 weeks so really should have gone surely

A localised hematoma (bruise) will feel fairly hard as the blood clots etc etc, it can take quite a while to disperse. But yes you are wise to take him to the GP if you're still worried.

Thanks again, I know deep down its nothing as I've been really prodding it since i noticed it and apart from him telling me I'm annoying him hes saying it's not hurting at all, I sure a fracture no matter how small would!
But my gp is back in Tuesday so will go in if I'm still worried or if it hasn't drastically gone down

I'm still worrying about this but my doctor is not in until Tuesday now
Wish I had just gone when i first noticed it, but I thought it was just a bump.
I hope it is, it's still there but does feel like its going down slowly.
It really is rock hard, not soft at all and is still causing no pain at all.
