Hey, I have a 9 month old baby girl, she is a very good eater, she just finds comfort in the bottle! I've tried every beaker and sippy cup and she won't take it, juice, milk or water... I tried her with a cup of milk this morning and she was fine, should I just swap bottles for cups now? Has anyone ever done this? She doesn't need the bottle to go to sleep either x

My ds took ages to get used to sippy cups. He can manage a glass or beaker but occasionally tips it down himself. I wouldn't get rid of bottles completely, just keep offering drinks in different types of cups. She'll get used to it.

My DD never had a bottle because she was a complete refuser & I struggled to get her to have anything from a sippy cup so she had a normal cup for a couple of months and then suddenly just seemed to 'get' a free flow sippy cup too. We alternate between them all as she's now 14m and gives herself the sippy cup, and drinks from a proper cup +/- straw if I hold it. I'd just go with it if I were you and just see what she takes to given more time.

If she's happy to drink from a 'proper' cup, let her! Much easier for both of you.

Dentists aren't that keen on sippy cups, so if you can avoid them why not.

My DS (10 months) switched to the NUK sippy at around 6/7 months as it's like a bottle with a clear, soft teat, just not quite a bottle. He didn't really notice to be honest. He will not touch the hard spouted sippys; he knows how but refuses to and gets really angry about it, I guess it's a comfort thing. He will however use a straw cup and an open cup. He has his milk in his NUK Mickey Mouse sippy (on amazon) and drinks water in the day from a straw cup, namely the momma cup, also on amazon. I have a drawer full if sippys and these are the only two he goes for. My daughter on the other hand will drink from any cup with no complaints.

P.s. I taught him to use the straw cup from a video on YouTube and he got the concept straight away. I basically got a normal straw, sucked water up it, then let it trickle into his mouth at the other end. Within seconds he was pursing his lips to suck the water himself and that was that. Plus he thought me dripping water into his mouth was hilarious!

We find that although DD1 can drink perfectly well from a cup, she doesn't always - sometimes she spills it everywhere. Thus we settled on cup at the table and sippy cup when out.
When we're at home it matters less that she's covered herself and everything in range with her drink.
