Every mum seems to rave about this stuff saying its the best thing for teething.

My DD seems to be immune by it, does nothing!!!

Is she the only one?

I have to say I'm not sure it does anything either. I find anbesol liquid great as it doesn't slide off the gums like gel.

Completely agree with jaybird. I found the Nelson's powder was better as you can just use the whole packet rather than trying to work out half or whatever the Ashton powders is. But I never understood why everyone raved about them!

Well, there's not much in them that would actually have an effect! They contain a tiny dose of chamomile extract (0.002 ml per sachet), which although they are labelled as "herbal", is essentially a homeopathic level. I.e. There's not enough of the chamomile extract in the powders to have any effect. There'd be more in chamomile tea!

Any reported pain relief is likely to come from the physical action of rubbing the gums with the powder, the fact that the powder is essentially sugar giving a short sugar high, and the placebo effect (acting on the parent!).
