Normal 'Boy' behaviour?

I have two sons aged 5 and 7 and since I can remember they have always fought (play and serious), ran around wild and basically just been little nutters.

It drives me insane, I feel I cannot visit relatives as all they do is run around their living rooms, fight between themselves, shout and scream and basically just make themselves look wild.

It's the same at home (I'm a single parent), I can't get a bath without something getting broken in the living room, as soon as I start doing something out of sight I can hear their heavy footsteps pounding around the living room and things getting knocked over etc.

Last week I took them to town with my mum and 12 year old sister and they ran wild then too, hiding in clothes rails, running up and down aisles and my 5 year old was constantly arguining with my 12 year old sister and trying to wind her up (and suceeding!).

I get so stressed out by it but my grandma says "they're just typical lads" and that I shouldnt worry...

So, is this normal behaviour for boys of this age? is so, when do they grow out of it??

It's normal for a 5 year old definitely - my 4 year old ds2 is the same. I've noticed he's worse when his younger brother (19 months) is around. Also remember my cousin visiting with her 3 children and her 2 boys (about 9 and 6 then) charged around the house with a toddler ds2 following.

Ah boys, don't we love em. Do they grow out of it? Mine is 11 and still a complete lunatic and as they get older they get mouthy too and very large.

Is there any way you can lock the living room door to keep them out?
