With only just under 6 months to go until she starts school I decided with it being half-term potty training would commenced. It is now or never.

But 3 days in, not one attempt at using the pottyConfused but she has stayed dry most of the day, only to completely saturate a pull up once bedtime happens!

Apart from a poo accident, and 2 wee accidents dry all day and I cannot get my head around why she will not use potty or even loo seat thingy for that matter.

She also does not care her knickers were wet and was walking around oblivious without a care in the world.
I have tried stickers and have offered her an incentive at the end of the week if she does well but still no poo or wee has made it to the potty.

Do I leave it and try again next week or persevere?
Her speech is very delayed so communication is an issue here too.

What has prompted potty training other than age? Was she showing signs? Are you still in touch with Health visitor? Has your child had referral for language delay? My daughter has delays and I have been led to understand that language is a massive part of potty training. I would seek advice from health visitor and if they aren't helpful then try GP.
We have been seen by an OT and advised to start potty training really slowly so putting her on potty morning noon and night, don't expect anything but talk about it etc. Our daughter has started to ask to use the toilet but not actually done anything on it at least it's a start.
I would suggest getting a bit of outside advice and support. Also don't believe people when they say their child was trained in 5 days. I have plenty of friends who say that but when we are out, their children constantly have accidents which apparently never happen at home! Don't pressure yourself or your daughter. It will happen when she is ready.

Thanks Gingeete only age has prompted me really and there has been absolutely no signs that she is ready. I guess I am unduly worried about her starting school still not having been trained.

I have 3 older children too but potty training has been so different with each of them, and tbh they all were showing signs around 3.

I second what you say about seeing Hv, will do that as soon as dc are all back at school and I will also ask her nursery for advice to as they helped me train dd3 when she was little.

I have stopped for now and we are back in pull ups as she wet and pooed her knickers again without noticing and my washer has broke down so thought it would be best for me and her to discontinue until we are both ready x
