My son is still putting things in his mouth at nearly three years old to the extent he nearly swallowed on a penny when I laid him down to change his nappy - he coughed it back up ok luckily - AND he will not stop putting his hand in his pull-up/pants/nappy, whatever he's wearing at the time. Then his elder brother copies on both things.......very frustrating! When I've really had enough I put him in dungerees, he can't reach his bits then but it is awkward for potty training.....My eldest son eventually grew out of both wonderful habits, he's only doing it now to copy the youngest because he knows it annoys me to high heaven!

DD2 still does this at 2.4yrs and I am constantly telling her not to. I even told her the germ on the domestos ads was what would get in her tummy and she thought it would be good to have her very own germ to take everywhere with her.

ds2 age 3 still puts things in his mouth, such as marbles etc, with that cheeky grin on his face which says he knows he shouldnt be doing it but he will anyway.he also likes stuffing bits of bath sponge and cotton wool up his nose.as for fiddling with boy bits,ds1 age 8 1/2 STILL does it.do lads ever grow out of that one though?

DD2 puts everything in her mouth (2.3 yrs). Eats all older sisters jigsaws, paints, books etc. Even eats the spongy balls at the local softplay place. Has same cheeky grin that says she knows she shouldn't do it. I've found the best policy is to ignore the behaviour, except when it is clearly dangerous!
Hopefully she will grow out of it one day.
