Tummy time - help please

For the life of me I can't get my 14 week old daughter to play on her stomach - throws a complete wobbler as soon as she is placed on her tum. This wouldn't be a major problem but the back of her head is flattened slightly so I want to encourage her to spend time off it!
Any tips anyone?
Thanks.

will she lie on her side a little as then she wont be putting the pressure on her head iykwim. Not all babies like tummy time try to do it when she has not eaten etc as it could be uncomfortable. Or how about putting her on a little cushion so she isnt completely on the floor if that makes sense.

Thanks - will give her a try on her side and with a cushion under her.

Has the GP said that the back of her head is a problem?

If not, I wouldn't worry about tummy time. It's a little over-rated. I think that some babies perhaps find it uncomfy (I'm sure mine did).

Haven't mentioned it to the GP, but health visitor has said not to worry about it - just make sure she spends time on tummy - easier said than done :-(

Health Visitors are obsessed by tummy time

I wouldn't worry about it

You'll only encourage crawlig and THEN where will you be?

Remember baby on your tummy also count as tummy time. My baby was the same, I put him to sleep on his side and made sure that after each feed he was changed to the other side. Never had a problem with a flat head, just make sure you roll 2 towels or blankets into sausages to put either side of her, it will prevent her from rolling over in her sleep.

A V pillow is good.

don't worry at all!
DS despised tummy time, same as your dd, would holler as soon as put on his front, even with 'exciting' toys etc...and he had the slightly flattened back of head too...no big deal, honest. He started to be happier on his tummy aboyut the same time as he started to crawl, at 10.5 months or so (he is 1 now, has 'perfectly' shaped head, sleeps on his tummy and has over the past 2 days mastered climbing up the stairs unaided - yikes!)

Have you tried a rolled up towel under your babys chest to prop the front end up a bit so she can see a bit more? Interesting toys in front of her and she may be a bit happier. For what it is worth though my DD#1 was very anti tummy time. DD#2 is the opposite and will not stay on her back, even to sleep. I have spent hours turning her back onto her back and now given up and let her sleep on her tummy!
good luck.

Thanks for all the tips and reassurance! Will persevere but not to the point it upsets her. I know she won't spend the whole of her life scared of being on her tummy (at least I hope not ), I'm just being a paranoid Mum I guess.
