Henry Hoover obsession driving me insane!!

Help!!! I know it's totally random but DS1 has got a major obsession with the hoover. He is 2 and a half. So we bought him a mini Henry and just assumed that he would get bored soon. It has now been going on for 12 months! I mean I literally have had a conversation about the wretched Henry at least 10 times every single day! Right now he is sat on a chair looking at the "big Henry" as it sits in the cupboard! We have tried not using at all when he's around, or letting him use it when we use it, but it always ends in major melt down. The new tactic is to leave the cupboard door open but not allow him to get it out. I mean seriously, it is doing my head in! Any suggestions would be welcome, especially if your child has had a similar obsession????

Crying with laughter and fear! Ds is 18 mo loves Henry - used to sit and cry outside cupboard door, gets v excited when he comes out but frustrated when I put him in cot or high chair so I can Hoover without having a little boy trying to join in!
Yesterday I said something after lunch when there was lots of mess that Henry had to come out soon and he went and sat outside the cup board door and waited.
Up until now I was just glad I could Hoover without someone having to a&e ds out as a few of my friends have to do that

Oh we are in that henry club it started about 8 months ago he also like dyson if you ask him where he wants to go toy shop to get a new toy or currys to see the hoovers hoovers win all the time it's a cheap day out lol
I'm getting very good at drawing henry. What ever you do don't go on you tube and type henry hoover with the child in the room. Someone show my little one oh god not good ( there are a lot of sados that make videos of there hoover. I've been told it's mostly boys that go though this.

My DS2 (currently 2ys 9months) is obsessed with lawnmowers! It started last summer when he turned 2. He has 2 toy ones of his own to play with, but will spend ages looking at the real ones in the argos catalogue and last summer he would often cry if we didn't take him to look at daddy's lawnmower in the garage! He would even kiss it goodbye!

Another mum of a hoover obsessed toddler here - he was hoover crazy from 18 months until about 6 - he still likes hoovers now at 7 but the fascination and obsessive stroking of them in shops has subsided.

I've childminded several vacuum cleaner obsessives over the years. I've always had a toy one for them and without exception they have rejected it in favour of the real thing.

My own children were always terrified of them.

I had to be very careful how I wrote up activity evaluations if they included the vacuum cleaner (which they did because all play here is child led) so Ofsted didn't begin to suspect I was using the children as cleaners Grin

Thank you in advance!!
