Will 19 month old grow out of food fads ever?????

Can anyone out there reassure me that my only daughter is just like other 19m toddlers.

She is really fussy with her food. She is going through this phase of eating just one type of food at a time. We are currently having a love affair with baked beans and raisons. At the moment she will also eat fruit, fromage frais and cereals but not rice crispies anymore just Mums bran flakes.

I worry that her diet should be better but hell you can,t force them to eat.Obviously too young to have any meaningful dialogue with her.

Should I just give her what she wants to eat or should I keep trying other foods even though I know they will be refused as she never eats fish or meat.

Poached fish and steamed vegetables thrown on the floor today.

She also keeps changing her tastes with bread one week she will only eat it toasted followed a week later by refusing to eat toast.

Anybody else been there, all advice gratefully received.

Your post made me smile. You could almost have been describing my ds. Although he is almost 6 sometimes I have to keep offering him a new food for weeks or months before he will try it. Although it has improved since he started school meals. I know its soul destroying but just keep on offering different things but try and make sure that there is something that you know she will eat on the plate. At least she likes fruit. Honestly it does get better, just try now to let her see you get stressed out about it.

My DS1 used to eat anything, but has got more fussy as time goes on.( he is now 3) He wont eat meat, chicken or fish, only sausages and burgers. He will not eat anything crunchy either...even biscuits!
He will try food if it's "mummy's". Do you eat at the same time as DD? Could she steal from your plate? My boys always prefer food if it should be mine
I think all kids go through phases of eating the same thing everyday, then get fed up of that and move on to a new favourite.
