Would really like some insight as my little one just diagnosed and still quite confused by it as symptoms don't seem to entirely suggest it but hospital said as the swab results take 2 days to come back to treat it as such
Very worried mum here

The rash is gone, peeling of the skin was what worries me and go to the doctor and then onto a&e when he couldn't tell me what it was.
She only complained of a sore throat Monday and the temperature, by Tuesday absolutely nothing.
So maybe it was just quite a mild form, we are day 3 of tge antibiotic.
Can I ask when you allowed your little ones to start mixing with other children etc

I had it as a teen, and remember to being able to swallow as it hurt so much.
did go away on it's own, but took a good couple of weeks (my mother doesn't believe in antibiotics).
I remember eating very tart apple sauce, that stung at first but strangely gave a little relief. (no ice cream either)

Slightlyneuroricnat · 02/02/2014 11:23

She never complained of a sore throat but didn't eat on Monday apart from ice lollies and wouldn't let me look inside but absolutely fine come Tuesday.
Just so scary as keep hearing cases of kids dying of things like meningitis even after having immunisations which is terrifying

How is dd today slightly?

I can't remember how long it was now, I think I just followed the preschool exclusion policy. It must have been 2 or 3 days after starting anti bs.

Fine in herself although yesterday had a temp ranging between 36.8-37.5 which I don't know if is a worry or not?
The hospital said to bring her back if at all concerned or if the temperature was high again but is 37.5 high enough to be concerned?
She also has a horrible cough from the cold she has as does my younger daughter so that could be causing the slight raise of temperature.
Panicking greatly about the complications that come with it honestly, rheumatic fever etc :(
Worried mum

36.8 is normal
37.5 is the tiniest fever. Dont worry.

Slightlyneuroricnat · 03/02/2014 09:37

No temperature today thankfully
We are seeing the doctor, I different one I might add on Wednesday to get the next dose of penicillin and to get her checked over so hoping that puts my mind at ease a little bit as struggling not to worry

Should she still be coming out in rashes even with the antibiotics?
Just noticed the tops of her feet look quite red

I had it at school when I was about 11/12. Was in sick bay for about 2 weeks and quarantined. Bored silly and really achy and tired is all I really remember. No one seemed overly concerned though; parent's didn't visit or anything so I don't think there was a big fuss.

Slightlyneuroricnat · 03/02/2014 16:07

Well that rash on the feet had gone by the time we got there
Checked her chest and all sounds clear
Is Kawasaki disease similar symptoms wise? I hope I'd know if it was that
