DS is almost 6 and hasn't yet lost any of his milk teeth. This morning I noticed that he has a new molar coming through at the back of his mouth. Is this normal?

Hi, I have a DS who will be 7 in June, he hasn't lost any teeth either, not even a wobbly one yet!
My DD lost her first tooth at the age of 4 but DS has done everything later than her...
I'm sure they are all perfectly normal for them, IOW each and every child is different and do things in their own time. They all get there in the end and it's all part of the great journey of being a parent. Smile

I just had a sheet given to me yesterday from a dentist which shows the rough age ranges that milk teeth come and adult teeth (whether they be replacements to milk teeth or new additions) and the date range for the very first milk teeth to be replaced was the same as the date range for the first new molars appearing, so I suspect what you are seeing is within the normal range.

yes they get their first adult molars around the age of 6 - they dont replace baby teeth, they are in addition to the other teeth.

Thanks guys. I'll keep an eye out for those first pesky molars! Grin

Thanks for this. I'd better stock up on tooth fairy coins though to be on the safe side (never manage to have any coins left in my purse!).
