Or Bepanthen.
Bath, make sure he's really nice and dry then plaster the cream on. Repeat often and it'll soon go. DS had it under armpits and behind knees, the sweaty bits. Winter babies hey with all these layers.

best thing that worked for my little boy was clean with water and cotton wool, make sure the area is dry (very important) and put Vaseline on. do this before bedtime and you will find it has calmed down by morning.

I swear by metanium, the yellow type.

The crucial thing for my babies was to make sure the area was clean. Sometimes creases and folds can get missed in the bath so be careful to get them all. Make sure they are all carefully dried and then use a barrier cream. Vaseline is great but if you can use whatever bottom cream you normally use too.

My DD1 reacted badly to any sweat, tears, saliva left on her skin so I would clean her skin with cream in between baths if she been crying or had been too hot to stop it getting sore.

Take him to the GP to rule out an infection.

I have just been to GP with my chubby bundle with the same thing, he prescribed a hydrocortisone cream and said nothing over the counter would have cleared it up. It is looking a lot better already

Goldmandra · 20/01/2014 16:32

dogtired a peadiatric dermatologist who saw my DD was very unimpressed when I told her that my GP had prescribed hydrocortisone for a baby without emollients and advice on how to use them as prevention. Long term use of hydrocortisone can cause permanent damage to skin.

She sent us to see the eczema nurse who taught me how to use it properly, as a last resort when emollients hadn't done the trick. He also prescribed some decent emollients.

Not hydro-cortisone. Either sudocreme or an anti-fungal.
