Hi. I'm not sure what's going on with my son at the moment so hoping for a bit of insight:
His sleep pattern has been a bit erratic lately - I posted a recently because he was napping for 4 hours in the day which was really unusual, but now he's gone back to his normal 2x 30 mins (afternoon might be 1hr if I'm lucky). His night sleep is now really disturbed - he goes from deep sleep to screaming at full pelt in an instant 4 or 5 times a night. Generally all I have to do is reposition him and put his comforter over his face and he'll turn over, calm down and go back to sleep, but sometimes I can see within a few seconds that that isn't going to work so I pick him up and he stops instantly. I just hold him and stroke his head for a few mins, then put him back in the cot - cue instant rage again until he calms down and goes back to sleep.
In the last week or so, he's also started having these rages after his afternoon snack - goes absolutely mental complete with tears, snot and dribble and nothing I do calms him down. I can't hold him for more than 5 mins as he struggles so much that it hurts me to try and keep him still (I have tendonitis in both wrists so it's extremely painful to hold him when he's wriggling). After about 10 mins he calms down and is then completely happy and cheerful.
I don't know if this could just be down to teething as it's so sudden and intense? He also has bad eczema at the moment so I don't know if that could be it?
I worry that he may have a problem with his metabolism/recognition of feeling hungry/full and that this might have something to do with it (it's like he gets to the end of the snack and thinks "what, that's it?") - he literally never refuses food and I have had to take control of his portions rather than taking his cues because he has only ever turned his head away twice and that was when he had a cold. His weight is now almost 98th centile and I've been told I'm overfeeding him.
It's hard to describe but it's like he needs everything to be a full meal, even if it's only an hour after a full bottle, but on the other hand if we are running late and food or milk is an hour late he's not remotely bothered by waiting.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
