9 month old waking with wind

Hello ladies,

Just hoping for a bit of advice. My DD is 9 months and she wakes several times a night with what we think is trapped wind. She will sleep fine on us in a sort of upright position until she passes wind (bottom end) and then can sleep again. She's never been a great sleeper but she's not a whingy baby and only cries when something is bothering her.

Anybody got any tips to help alleviate this and her her sleeping better? She's now bottle fed (I breast fed until 7 and a half months) as I return to work next week and she loves her solids!

I would suspect the formula is giving her trouble and she might have a mild cows milk intolerance...? Does she eat a lot of dairy? If mine eat too much cheese or yogurt they get very windy. Raw cows milk is a no for them.

Has she ever been checked for tongue tie Mooley?

Never been checked for tongue tie that I'm aware of. Could be the formula though as she breastfed fine (although did fuss at the breast towards the end when weaning was estanlished) and this problem has only started since more and more formula has been introduced.

I'm seeing the HV tomorrow for her 8 month check so will ask her what she thinks and what's best to do!

Thanks for the responses ladies!! Smile

I would keep a diary and be clear with your HV that it's since the formula that it has got worse.

I would also look to giving her a half tea spoon of weak peppermint tea at tea time and bedtime (maybe mixed into her bottle) which might help.

It does sound like it could be an intolerance of some sort. I am assuming she is now on solids so it might be something you are feeding, not necessarily dairy though I think that tends to be the most common issue.
