Wingy girl

My daughter is a little over a year old and is extremely wingy. She screams if I leave the room, if anyone tries to hold her and even if someone visits and I speak to them. She won't interact with other children or people, she doesn't go to anyone bar me and her Dad. My partner (her Dad) often works away so will this give her separation anxiety? Both my parents and my partners parents work full time so she doesn't see anyone bar me frequently, I socialise with friends and family every week but she is becoming worse with others, she has only spent half a day away from me so is this all my fault? I am a first time Mum so I am really trying my best, I make everything she eats from scratch, I interact with her and try to take her to fun baby places but I don't want to leave the house now. Please be gentle with your responses I'm struggling at the moment!

Separation anxiety really isn't your fault. It's just something that happens and passes. WineWineWine

It sounds like your baby is very bonded to you and if she doesn't spend much time with other people or in a nursery she may not want to go to other people.
TBH I wouldn't worry about it too much if you and she are otherwise happy. My DD was (and still is...) very Mummy-orientated but she is a healthy, happy girl, doing well at school and so on. She was a most unfriendly baby though and was never keen on being held by people she didn't know, didn't smile at strangers in shops etc.
Your DD is still very tiny and some babies are just like this. My DSD was apparently like velcro with her Mum as a baby and just would not be put down!
Don't measure your baby against others, keep doing activities that you both enjoy and relax - it sounds like you're doing a great job.

Thank you both. In regards to activities she likes activity centres like bear feet and tumbling teds but is only really happy if she's sat on my lap watching Peppa pig which I'm not keen on her doing ALL the time. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to anything. I do love her being close to me but I want her to have other pleasures except me and Peppa!

Honestly enjoy it!

I realise that sounds odd but I wish someone had said that to me when I had ds1 as a baby. He too liked to attach himself to me and was happy going to baby groups as long as he was observing from my knee. Sadly I was listening to the in laws who all had lots of dc and thought that he should be more outgoing and that something wasnt right.

As it turns out he's still a quiet lad but he's popular at school and has a secure group of friends. So thats time spent fretting when I didnt need to.
