2.6 year old waking at 4.30 for last couple of months

My 2.6 year old wakes at 4.30am every day. He's been doing this for about 2 months so I'm guessing its habit. If my OH gets into his bed he will go back off. Sometimes he comes into our bed and it's hit and miss if he will sleep. He's shattered, so I know he's tired! He goes to bed at about 7.00pm, still naps at nursery about 1 hour but will have longer at home at the weekend. I've tried explaining its night time. He's not interested. I've tried leaving him, he's extremely strong willed and screams the house down. Was thinking about getting a gro clock but I'm not sure if he's too young. I don't think he would care either! We both work full time so this is killing us now!! Anyone been in a similar situation or offer advice on things to try?

We got a gro clock for our DS (2.2yo) when we moved him to his new toddler bed and bedroom before christmas as he was waking early & throughout the night. It definitely helped settle him & he loves the little story that comes with it.

We ordered off amazon for about £20 and would say its worth it. We're due to have DC2 next week and are hoping that the gro clock will help with settling at night if he gets woken by baby crying as he understands star mean sleeping time & sun means time to get up. I doubt it will keep him in bed but just help reinforce that its still night time.

Does he eat ok in the day?

Is he going to bed on a tummy full of milk? Mine would always wake earlier than desired as a 2/3 yr old if they had a bedtime drink too close to bed time ( I'm the same, if I eat too much or drink too much liquid and go to bed soon after) it can be uncomfortable.

Is the boiler kicking in or someone going to work in the street and it's waking him up?

Get a Groclock maybe like another poster said. My DS dropped naps around this age. So maybe wake him after half an hour nap and see if he sleeps longer in the mornings.

My DS used to wake realising it was dark and saying he was thirsty. We bought a nightlight, explained night and day and invented a night time Sippy cup which he could reach for himself if needed.

He eats great, he doesn't drink milk before bed but does have a glass of water. We leave in a remote area so no traffic or outside noise. The boiler doesn't kick in until 5.40am either. No one else in the house to disturb him! Ill try the gro clock and see how he goes. Thanks everyone
