8 week old just skipped her night feed :-s

Before I call the health visitor in a panic.... do they do that sometimes?

My 8 week old end refluxy dd just skipped her night feed. Very out of character for her - she usually can't go more than 4 hours before she needs to eat. She had a feed at around 10 pm last night. I woke her up at midnight to give her final dose of ranitidine. She was stirring anyway and takes her dose 15-30 mins before a feed. She didn't ask for a feed after that dose like I thought she would though. :-s I just realized this at 5 in the morning and had to take her out of her sleeping bag to get her to feed. She just took a big feed from one side and is chilling on my shoulder just now.

We tried a bit of carobel paste at around 8 pm last night - she took barely 1 baby spoon of the stuff - just a couple dabs on her tongue - because she doesn't yet get the idea of swallowing anything thicker than breast milk. Would that little have that much effect?

She doesn't feel clammy or toasty. Wouldn't think it was a fever...

Just took a very wet nappy off her. She has been peeing through the night...

God. You would think I'm the only woman who doesn't celebrate her child's first sleep through the night.

My 12 wo has just woken after his longest ever 6 hour sleep! It's worrying at first when they sleep and you're expecting them not to, but I'm sure nothing is wrong. Sometimes they're just sleepy or it could be a sign that she's ready to sleep more at night and she might continue like this. Hopefully so!

Smile completely understand your panic. They do start sleeping longer at some point though!

My LO saw in the new year with an 8 hour gap between feeds.
Oh we rejoiced, and showed off to the friends we were staying with. 2014 is the year of sleep we thought!

Next night, back to usual routine. Hasn't done it since.
I think sometimes they just choose to sleep a little longer!

Don't panic! My DS started sleeping through from around 9w (stopped at 6mo unfortunately) so you may just be lucky.

Just make sure she is still having wet nappies, alert when awake etc if she is hungry she will let you know! Just enjoy the sleep Smile

DS2 used to wake one or twice every night, then at around 7 or 8 weeks (I forget - he's 16 and taller than me now!) he started sleeping through and rarely if ever woke again in the night. He slept 7pm - 7am from then on.

My ds slept through from 8 weeks, he's nearly 4 now, it never changed yet. My dd is 14 weeks amd still wakes at around 4am for a feed. Just enjoy your unbroken sleep! x

My dd has been sleeping between 6 and 8 hours a night since 7 weeks. I wouldn't be worrying if I were you ( unless there are weight concerns)

Xfirefly · 10/01/2014 22:18

DD is 18 weeks and slept through from 8 weeks. wed put her down at 730 and then DP woke me in a panic at 530 asking If I'd fed her because she hadnt woken up Grin she sleeps until 8/9 now , we're very lucky.

leobear · 10/01/2014 22:39

Both of mine slept 11pm until 7 or 8 from 6 weeks Smile

Ihatepeas · 11/01/2014 21:19

My dd slept 11.30 to 7 from 5 weeks. Enjoy!
