Leg length discrepancy

My dd is two and a half and a few people have commented that they think she has leg length discrepancy. I am taking her to the doctors tomorrow but really worried she may need surgery. She does walk with a slight limp and when you put her knees together one is slightly higher than the other. Does anyone have any experience of it?

DS1 had some osteopathy last year and she said that one leg seemed longer than the other, but in actual fact his legs were the same length and his hips were out of line which in turn was caused by a curvature in his neck. Also one foot was rolling in the way a little and the other one out the way.

One of his hips was stiff and sore and he had pains in the ankle that rolled in the way. A few sessions of osteopathy straightened him all out and he has no more aches and pains.

I appreciate that it's not always this straightforward though. I hope it's nothing serious.

Not saying your little girl is the same as mine as I'm no doctor, but my daughter was born with Hip Dysplasia, meaning she had shallow hip sockets at birth and the one of them was dislocating when manipulated in the hospital. She spent 8 weeks in a Pavlik Harness from 4 weeks old which deepened her sockets and shes fine now at 16 weeks

I do know though that some of the symptoms of undiagnosed Hip Dysplasia are a limp and leg length issues. Also creases in the thighs that don't match.

It's fairly common in first born girls or breech babies.

The HV wondered if my sons legs were different lengths, he had x rays so he could possibly be referred to a physio (I think!!) and was also referred onto a paediatrics consultant.
The physio woman came out and had a look, she looked at him running, walking, climbing etc, then had a look at the back and the front to see if his knee creases were level, and then measured from the top of his hip bone down to the inside of his ankle to get a definite measurement.
It turned out the problem arose as his hips weren't level when he was initially measured and this is often a cause.
Hope it's nothing too serious x
