Afternoon nap question 2.5 yo

Hello
Sorry for boring question but I'm despairing!

My 2.5 y o has been hell to put to bed recently but especially for his afternoon nap. Does this mean I should drop it? Thing is once he's in his cot I have to wake him after 2 hours so I've been assuming he still needs it. I also have a 4 month old baby and I can't keep leaving her for the length if time it's taking me to get him into bed.

Grateful for your wise opinions. Grin

My son told me whilst eating his lunch in his high-chair (age 2.4), that he wasn't having a sleep that day or any more ever after lunch. And he didn't!!! Bed time went from 7pm back to 6.30pm, he occasionally nodded off in his tea (though very rarely). He coped fine, went to sleep immediately for 12 hours at night (he had been struggling to fall asleep at night whilst having the after lunch nap). He loved it.... took me a while to get used to it!

marking my place as i have the same with my 2.2 yo. in fact, i'm heading out now with the pushchair because he's more likely to fall asleep as soon as we move outside. i know he needs a nap, and he's tired, but he just fights against it lately.
i wonder if it has something to do with the time of the year...

My DDs are teens now, but I always preferred them to have an early night rather than a day time nap. They would fall asleep in the car perhaps, or occasionally on the sofa, but I never "put them down" IYSWIM. And if they did nap, I would always wake them up after an hour to ensure an easy and early bed time.

well, took all of 5 minutes in the pushchair and £30 at waitrose for DS to fall asleep. i don't normally wake him up or let him skip a nap, but i'm starting to wonder if it'd be worth it for the early nights...

Hmm interesting. I'm going to give a reward chart a try but if that doesn't work I might start just leaving the lamp on and some toys in his cot to entice him in.
