What do your 18 moth olds drink from?

When you don't want it emptied all over the floor, I mean. DS drinks from an open cup with help, and also uses a straw really well. He has a very basic Tommee tippee lidded cup, but wondered if this was too babyish and he should be using something else?

Ds uses a sippy cup.

If he's happy with a straw, lidded straw cups are an option, they're not completely spill free like a sippy cup, but they do prevent everything going everywhere.

Toddler straw cup by 'Vital Baby' are amazing - I tried so many beakers & cups, at least 15 and these don't leak at all. You can take the straw out when they are sleepy and want to lay down or use straw for more upright drinking in the day. They are quite expensive but well worth it, my son is still using his two cups after 2 years

My two are three now and still use sippy cups a lot of the time. They're perfectly capable of open cups, straws etc, but spills are inevitable unless there is a lid. So if we're not at the kitchen table, sippy cups it is.

I once had ideals about only having drinks in the kitchen, but actually life calls for drinks in the car/watching film in lounge/bedtime drinks etc, where open cups are sure to result in wet sofa/car/carpet/bed/child.

Sippy cups are great!

Dd has water in an open cup so when if it gets spilt it doesn't matter too much. I never fill it more then half full as well for some damage limitation. She did chuck it over herself quite often and then grumbled because she is soggy but I think this helped her learn that if you chuck your drink around, you get wet and uncomfortable. She's 15mths now and pretty good unless she's tired. but I do still give her sippy cups if I'm not feeling up for catching flying cups.
