Can your 8yo DD dry her own hair?

Have just asked DD 9 (who has a bob) to try drying her own hair -as I'm lazy and can't bothered to move)

DD is thrilled at the idea, and rushed off enthusiastically, but I'm expecting her to return with a damp mop.

I think 9 is too young. Hairdryers can be dangerous- my niece as a child mis-used a hairdryer and ended up having her hair sucked in the inlet and burned over the hot elements. There is an electric shock risk too if we hair become entangled in the element.

Why did I post 9? Confused She's 8!

The hairdryer does have a thingy on the nozzle to stop hair/dust being sucked in. Hmm

She's now singing "Crazy, crazy, crazy till the sun comes up" louder than the hairdryer. Grin

Nearly 10yo DD has started doing hers recently.

I showed her what to do, explained the dangers, supervised the first few times and she has been fine. She can't style it but she can rough dry it with the hairdryer

She's come down and it's not dry enough. Grin

Apparently it's how she likes to have her hair! Hmm

Dd is 8 (9) in may & I wouldn't let her dry her own hair ... Much older IMO.

No. But then my DDs (and I) mostly just let our hair dry naturally.

If we are going out and it needs a blow dry I might let my 9 year old do hers herself, but I'm there watching. It is too easy for her to turn the drier round and let her hair be sucked in through the back.
