Cot to bed...apprehensive

My dd slept through from 8 weeks and has always slept well in her cot. She is three in April and does need a bed now. I'm worried it will disrupt her perfect sleep habits. Also she moves around a lot in her cot so worried about quilt falling off (been in a sleeping bag until now), and her falling out. Do I just bite the bullet?

I'm reticent in the same way. I believe jojo Maman bebe sell some quilt clips. We've already moved to a duvet in his cot & it's not been a massive problem. We pop in before we go to bed & rearrange the covers. We tend to woolly him up a bit, so he doesn't get cold if he kicks it off.

I was worried about the transition from bag/cot to duvet/bed, but it was fine and dd was v v happy. It also makes it much easier when going away and staying in hotels etc.

Firstly, you can get a bed side protector thingy (sorry I have had gin and can't remember what it's called) to stop her falling out.

Secondly, a few nights getting used to it with the occasional falling off of duvet or even a bump out of bed wont do much harm. Put something soft on the floor maybe?

And lastly, if she's a good sleeper she'll keep her good habits in the long term. A few bad nights won't kill her - or you!

That said, my dd is just three and hasn't yet started getting out of bed to play when she should be sleeping - yet to cross that bridge!

Mine took ages to realise they could even get out of the bed, ha ha!
It won't be much of a transition at all, sure she'll take to it fine.
Gro bag do duvet and sheet sets that zip up the side to stop them falling out, they're expensive but really good.

I put the duvet on width ways so the ends are well tucked in. I was dreading doing it, had a couple of nights of him getting out of bed at bedtime, then the novelty wore off and it was all quite underwhelming really. Good luck.

She can still have the gro bag in bed to start with. might ease the transition.

I think the older they are when you make the transition the easier it is. Tbh if she wanted to get out then she would.

My nearly-2yo climbed out of her cot at nap time yesterday Shock so unfortunately I have no choice. It took a while for her to settle in bed last night..... but she then slept till 7am. So we will see what happens tonight!

I'm definitely leaving her in a gro bag for now and will change in the summer.
