Hello folks, what age did your child learn how to tell the time ? DD1 is 3 i am thinking of getting a watch, but dont know whether this is too early for her. she can count to 10 , but doesnt really recognise numbers, she says things like "its seven o clock mommy" (at any time of day)i thought maybe a clock or watch may help her to learn about what numbers look like also, but dont want to bog her down too early. any advice?

Um- I think it's a process really- my 7 year olds are still a bit shaky on the time, though they are getting there. How about getting a play clock (scroll down a bit to see it) to help her learn through play? If my boys are anything to go by it will be of long lasting use! They could do with one now to practice five to and ten past etc.

Doesn't look as if mine will every learn anything but the basics!!!

my 6 year old has a watch and knows the numbers but usually gets the hour and minute hand mixed up.
dd3 is 2 and puts dd1's watch on and tells everyone its ten past!!!

My DD started learning to tell the time in reception. Shes just finished year 1 and can pretty much get it right most of the time.

DS who is 2 always says "its 2 o'cock" everytime anyone mentions the time

Dd has just finished Reception (yesterday) and they had just started doing basic time - the o'clocks and half pasts is as far as they got.
