Just that really. Dd 6 weeks old today Grin. She lying in her bed thing and has just done a poo (does explosive ones about 3 times a day at the moment!). Do I leave her lying in it and sleeping or wake her up to change her?

She not bothered at all, happy as the proverbial pig!!

I'd probably change her to avoid nappy rash but you may get away with not waking her.

LumpyBumpyMum · 20/12/2013 06:59

Change her. It will make her sore. Hopefully she wont wake too much and you can put her back down.

AmandaCooper · 20/12/2013 07:02

I don't think it w leave her for a bit

FirConesAtXmas · 20/12/2013 07:03

Definitely change her, she will get sore so quickly if you don't

dimsum123 · 20/12/2013 07:03

Change to avoid nappy rash. She'll hardly wake up.

Rosa · 20/12/2013 07:04

Put towel under her and change her in cot.

beginnings · 20/12/2013 07:05

I'd change her too I'm afraid, also to prevent a sore bot.

AmandaCooper · 20/12/2013 07:05

I don't think it would hurt her to leave it for a bit. I wouldn't leave DS wet or dirty but probably just cause I'd be projecting how I would feel. DS would probably prefer to snooze on tbf.

rachyconks · 20/12/2013 07:05

Change her. I used to hate this situation, but couldn't settle myself knowing DD was lying in a dirty nappy. Low level lighting and gentle movements and she shouldn't waken too much

SanityClause · 20/12/2013 07:07

Change her. She might not even wake up.

Buzzardisnotina4birdroast · 20/12/2013 07:08

Baby poo is like toxic battery acid, I would change her before she dissolves Grin. Seriously, she will be sore and might get germs in her bits, you can change her without waking her.

melmo26 · 20/12/2013 07:10

Dd woke up at 1 am this morning screaming. Not like her. Didn't know what was wrong. Turns out she must have pooed before bed. The poo was stuck to her bum and red raw. I felt awful.
Change her

She carried on popping and parping merrily and I changed her as per you guys advice when it stopped.

Nappy off and more poo everywhere so ended up dunking her. Lots of tears but she all clean, warm and cosy and happily filling her belly.

It's amazing the amount if live I feel for the stinky little monster!

Do change her as soon as poss (I imagine you've done it by now anyway). If you're BF her at all, remember that breast milk is amazing for calming a sore bottom, as it contains anti-bacterial/anti-infection properties (OK, I'm a bit hazy on the science of it, but it works). Just express a tiny bit into a cup and wipe it on with a pad.

Ah, x-posted.

"Nappy off and more poo everywhere so ended up dunking her"
Best thing to do with poo explosions! Water is less likely to cause a reaction than wet wipes full of chemicals.

"It's amazing the amount if live (love?) I feel for the stinky little monster!"
I suspect that is the only reason for the parental love instinct to exist, because otherwise there's no way we'd be prepared to deal with all that shit, literally.

Ah, the old days. I remember once feeding DD in the middle of the night, and DH had done the last nappy change, but really badly so the nappy was on too loose. DD suddenly projectile vomited all over me, then while I pondered what to do, shat absolutely everywhere and out the sides of the nappy, then peed on top of it all. Now that was something of a low point that really tested my love!

Bumpsadaisie · 20/12/2013 07:52

Change her. You don't need to leave it long before they get sore.

Madamecastafiore · 20/12/2013 08:56

Oooohhhh I'll remember the breastmilk tip. thank you.

Ha ha, DH banned from nappies during the night or they end up falling off. I do remember expulsion from both ends with my other DCs and the momentary panic of what in Gods name do I do now!!

Defo change her! DD sleeps through poo, wish she'd wake us though as it makes her soooo sore when it happens!

goshhhhhh · 23/12/2013 20:12

Another way of thinking about it. Change her. Friends ofmine had this weird thing about not changing too ofteoffer so they weren't at their dcs beck & call. Then had a hell of a time potty training.
