He hasnt been weighed in a while. But last time his height was just below 50th centile and weight just above i think.
I dont think he is overweight but does look a bit chunkier than his friends. I try to make sure he gets lots of exercise. We go to the park a lot and scooter a lot. Swimming lessons etc. But he is pretty greedy. He is constantly telling me he is hungry. I dont want to make a big deal about food. So i dont resteict what he eats too much. But do obviously try anf make sure its healthy where possible.
I have become aware recently that he does a lot of w sitting. And when i googled it it says this can mean their trunk strength doesnt develop. So i wondered if this is the cause.
Does anyone else have 4 yo with big pot bellys that they naturally grew out of?

A lot of W sitting? What's that? Bad posture?

I think it works the other way round actually - children with poor trunk muscles sit in a w because it's a more stable position so it helps them. Of course it then doesn't make them develop better muscles so it becomes a vicious circle. W sitting should always be discouraged because it can cause all kinds of issues but I don't think pot bellies are one of them.

Just from observing my DC1 and classmates, a lot of them sprout upwards between 4yo and 5yo, don't they? DC1 lost her belly around that time.
