Worried about six month old development

Dd is just six months and I'm a little worried...
She can sit up fairly well but can't roll over in either direction and when I put her on her tummy she lifts her head a little but doesn't really 'push up' and definitely doesn't lift her chest or put weight on her hands.

I mentioned it to HV a few weeks ago and she wasnt too worried but said to try lots of tummy time and go to GP if it didn't improve. I've been doing that and she now lifts her head slightly (not for long) but I don't know if I should be more concerned. The wait at GP for an appointment is several weeks unless urgent but she is due to see a paediatrician soon on a separate issue so I can always mention it then.

Any advice on how 'normal' this development is would be much appreciated. She is dd3 and the other two were much quicker to do things, especially dd1

I wouldnt worry too much, though I know that it is hard. Dd wasnt even sitting unaided at six months and had only just managed to roll front to back. It was some time later before she did back to front.

One thing I did to help was wrap up a blanket like a sausage and lay her, front down, with her chest on the blanket, so her arms and shoulders were past it, if that makes sense. She preferred being propped up a little.

DNeice was walking - unaided - by 7.5m and mine wasnt barely rolling Grin. DD eventually walked unaided at 14mo.

I reassured myself by thinking that they cant learn everything at once, and while her physical development was behind the only other baby I knew, her speech and comprehension was way beyond.

They all get there in the end.

Thanks. I don't think I'm worrying so much as worrying that I should be worrying! It just seems like every baby I know is rolling around while dd just lies there Sad

DC have a cousin who didn't roll over until 10 or 11 months! No walking or climbing until 16 or so months. Screamed thru tummy time so never had much of that. Confirmed bottom shuffler never crawled.
He's a gangly normal teen now. Cleverer than my lot who all walked early. Try not to worry.

My DD has just turned 6 months and can't roll yet either. She hates tummy time and starts crying after a couple of minutes. I'm not worrying just yet as when we went to a group recently only one baby liked tummy time and was able to roll.

It sounds quite normal to me too. Perhaps she just doesn't see the point Grin

Almost all babies have one thing that they do later while all of the others merrily seem to do it. By the time they're at school, you would never be able to tell.

My ds is 6 months too he can sort of sit unaided but only if he's leaning forward because his belly holds him up! Grin
And he doesn't like tummy time much eith and will roll from his tummy onto his back but only on his right side.
I just enjoy the fact he's not too mobile and I can hopefully put off child proofing the house until the new year!

My daughter never really rolled over, she didn't crawl either. However she sat up and walked at the right times and continues to develop normally. They just all do different things. Really try not to worry.

Thanks all. She is an incredibly laid back baby so I did wonder if she just couldnt be bothered doing it.

Logically I know you're all right about the differences-dc 1 did everything on schedule, crawling at 8 months, walking at 11 etc but dc2 never crawled and just sat until 15 months. It's hard not to compare but I know I shouldn't!

My ds did everything off schedule. Last to sit in our baby group, so late to roll my paed suggested checking for degenerative disorder (great night that was), still didn't pull self to standing at 14 months etc. The things that stopped me worrying toooooo much were that he seemed physically strong and generally well coordinated. Ds didn't crawl or push up until about 4 months after he could walk. Weird order but looks like any other kid now at 8.

Dd2 couldn't roll until 14 months, crawled at 15m and walked at 17m. I was convinced something was wrong but she got there. She did have a few physio sessions from 10 months after I raised concerns, mainly because she was constantly crying as frustrated she couldn't move. So worth mentioning it as with paed and they may monitor her.
