13 week old rubbing right ear?

He's been crying and rubbing his right ear a little, he's had some calpol and he's now lying there with his hand next to his right ear but not rubbing.
Does that seem like an ear infection?
He is also teething (early I know!) so could that have anything to do with it?

Any help would be much appreciated Smile

Hi - it could be, but both my kids pulled at their ears when they were just simply tired. Is he otherwise well?

MamaPingu · 06/12/2013 14:19

Ah ok! That could be it, he does seem fine yeah he's been smiling and having a giggle so he seems well.
Maybe he was just tired! Feel bad for giving his paracetamol if so!
He normally rubs his eyes when tired but maybe the ear was just part of his little routine haha Smile

I think I must be half asleep as I read the title as, 13 YEAR old. I was wondering why you just didn't ask him!! Blush

When DS was teething and tired, he was an ear rubber, if that helps.

:-) yes maybe the ear rubbing is a new thing to his "tired" routine as he has become more coordinated? Worth keeping an eye on him anyway, lots of little bugs around.

Don't feel bad for the paracetomol, that stuff is very safe. He'll ingest much worse stuff in the course of his life!

I always check to see if they have a temp before giving Calpol - it helps to show whether there is an infection or not. Certainly ear rubbing could be associated with teething - both mine had teeth at 16 weeks so am guessing the actual process of them moving must have started prior to that!

MamaPingu · 06/12/2013 18:14

Yeah I think he might just be getting more coordinated like you say Smile
He's not having a nice time with these teeth the poor boy!

Thanks for your posts!
Hopefully he'll be happier soon! Smile

My Ds is 2.4 yrs and his back teeth are just coming in now, since he started teething he's never got his finger out his ears, I've had him at doc many times get'n his ears checked but they've always been ok, its just his teeth causing his problem. but it doesn't cost anything to get them checked, better than sleepness nights worrying.
