Teething? - off solids and bad nappies

A little worried about DD. She's nearly 8 months old and has two teeth so far (second just appeared this week). We've been weaning her for a couple of months and all was going well until earlier this week, when she started completely refusing solids. She's still having around 700ml of formula each day, but clamps her lips shut for any solids, even her favourites. Then yesterday we had the most disgusting nappy I can remember, very runny and everywhere. Had to completely change her outfit. We had two like that yesterday and another today. Today's was v yellow. I'd say almost like Dijon mustard in colour and consistency and v smelly (sorry for nasty description). She seems well in herself apart from that. Still giggly, although a little more unsettled at night and clingy.

I did take her to the docs this morning. He says she seems fine in all other ways and that maybe it's either a phase of the beginning of something medical and to just keep an eye on her. I asked if nappies could be related to teething but he sat on the fence on that one.

Wondered if any of you had experienced similar? Was it teething or something else? How long did it last? Thanks in advance.

Could be teething, or a virus perhaps. My dd2, now 13mo, has gone through numerous episodes like that, where she suddenly was off her food for no apparent reason. Ds1 (5yo) had feeding difficulties and has a very poor diet so I couldn't help but feel anxious. Every occasion has usually been for a reason though - either a tooth has appeared or else she has gone down with a cold / another illness. I think the key is to not overreact and get stressed about her eating, and let her see that. Don't try to make her eat if she doesn't want to. You could perhaps give her a few finger foods to see if she'll have a pick at those instead. When dd2 refuses a spoon she is sometimes happy to shove grated cheddar or a rusk into her mouth. I know she is feeling poorly if she refuses pieces of banana or raspberries. Depending on the cause, the poor eating could last for a couple of days or a week or so.

My ds has just turned two, I THINK he's just about done with teething (that should be I hope actually!) and I'm convinced that teething equals dreadful nappies and a whole host of other problems (temp/rashes/devil child tendencies/off food...I think you've done the right thing taking her to the docs to confirm she's not unwell. But teething can be a long hard process... Good luck

Thanks both, she seems a little better today. She managed a rice cake and some baby rice. Nappy situation no better but she's drinking plenty of formula and water so hoping things will turn around soon. I hate teething! Not looking forward to two years of it! Sad
