Any ideas?? DS is a spirited baby who needs lots of entertaining (!) and he can't walk yet but really wants to, so is frustrated. He is a very confident crawler.

Really stuck for ideas on how to entertain him in the house now the weather is shit and the nights are drawing in. He wakes up from his nap at 3.30, it's already nearly dark and we have 4 hours to fill till bedtime...help!!

What do/did your LOs like doing at home at 12mo?? We have lots of toys, inc a walker, ride on car etc but he seems to get bored of all these after an hour. Any ideas??

My ds is 11 months, he is walking but there doesnät seem to be much difference in what he likes in comparison to when he was crawling.

We have a treasure basket, some days he thinks that is great fun, other days not so much fun.

He loves whistles, rattles and drumming on pans and plastic bowles.

He likes to take his wooden bricks out of their box and put them all back in again.

We have a pop up tunnel from IKEA.

We have IKEA storage shelves, I put a book standing up on each shelf with a matching toy, so a catapiler toy with the very hungry caterpiler book, a toy truck with the that's not my truck book.

Ds loves climbing, he climbs on his little kids chair, it makes me very nervous but he enjoys himself, I sit close by to catch him if he falls but he hasn't fallen yet.

Unpacking the tuperwear cupbord is fun, as is emptying the washing machine.

Drawing and painting, messy but fun, you can do yogurt painting if you are worried that he might eat it.

The best toy for ds before he could wak was a pushalong trolley thing, it's still fun as he can take all his teddies for a ride.

finger puppets.

We have a wooden farm, I was saving it for when ds was a bit older but I showed it to him last week and he loves it, he tries to make the animal sounds and puts the animals in the barn and then takes them out .... he does this over and over and over.

Make dens.

If all else fails we watch in the night garden Blush

Stacking cups (DS now 2 still loves them)
The play kitchen is worth its weight in gold imo.
Julia Donaldson books and DVDs.
Wooden peg puzzles.
Indoor picnic with teddies
Making a den
Fingerpainting might be an option when he's a few months older. Likewise easy crafting activities.
