I have posted this in Children's Health as well but just wondered if anyone had had a similar experience and if this may be a developmental leap rather than my baby being under the weather.
I just wanted some advice about my son. He has been really unsettled for a week or so now, some days more than others. I have been reading The Wonder Weeks and while it is the right time for a developmental leap I wanted to make sure.
He has gone from draining his bottles to really seeming to struggle with them, sometimes he will leave an ounce or two but last night he only drunk two ounces. He seems to be almost gagging and we keep having to sit him up. I have swapped to size 2 teats because he was falling asleep but have switched back to size 1 and this makes no difference.
He is really clingy one minute and just wants to snuggle in, then he is fighting and wriggling to sit up. He wants to sit bolt upright, or even tipping over forwards - he throws himself forwards and almost catapults out of my arms.
He has had a cold for a while which is on its way out now but even though he sounded very chesty the GP said he was fine (the chestiness came and went, unfortunately it wasn't there when I took him to the GP). I have used saline spray on him along with snuffle babe and propped his crib up. His dad and I have both had bad colds along with very sore throats (mine was a tonsillitis type of pain), if it was hurting him to swallow I suppose he might not want his bottle?
He has been resisting naps in the day but sleeping well at night, doesn't have a temperature and is producing lots of wet and dirty nappies.
