My DS is not interested and has started not drinking much during the day to avoid needing to pee. Refusing to wear pants to nursery and will only pee in the morning when happy on and about 4pm. Will pee in the potty, with coaxing, no accidents. He has never been a great drinking but has definately cut down. Any thoughts? Am l putting too much pressure on him? Wont poo in potty, did in the past but refuses now, will ask for a nappy on to do it in or hold it in. Everyone elses kids seem to be toilet trained now.

Any advice? x

Have you tried reading to him about it? There's a Pirate Pete book where Pete learns to use the potty - my ds loved it when we were training him. Maybe worth a go if you haven't already?

I gave my dd a chocolate button for every wee in the toilet, and 2 for every poo! It was a long slow process. Don't get angry or put pressure on (I know this is hard) but try gently reminding them or asking them.

with dc1 at a similar age (didn't show any interest whatsoever in potty training) we went nappy shopping. we explained that this is the very last pack, when that is empty it will be pants.

took a couple of days at dc was dry.
never had a potty, went straight to the toilet (with a toddler seat).

thanks so much! have heard about the book and will try that. So hard not to get frustrated but l realise that doesnt help.
Really appreciate the good advice!

Just put him in knickers. you can get plastic lined ones that feel very wet when a kid wees in them. I would just put the nappies away completely to be honest. They're a crutch. you can explain that he's a big boy now and big boys don't wear nappies.
