5.5 months and not laughing?

My baby is 5.5 months. He has REALLY laughed probably three times, and he makes an 'amused noise' occasionally, but he does not generally laugh. Other babies his age and younger seem to be laughing properly much more often.

Is it just that

a) he is a serious baby,
b) I am not amusing,

or

c) he will do it when he feels like it and I should stop worrying?

Thanks in advance!

He'll do it when he feels like it

My LO is 11 months old and has only just started laughing properly when he finds something amusing. Before that he just sort of smiled at me, grunted then lost interest Grin (he still does that quite a lot of the time)

If you're worried though then mention it to your HV next time you see her

Does he smile? My baby is the same age and very very smiley, but hardly laughs (you really have to do your best and then it's a chuckle, not proper giggles). I think as long as they're smiling it's not something to worry about. DS1 was the opposite, very serious, hardly smiled but if you did something he thought was funny he'd be in stitches. Although he might have been a little bit older.

He smiles a lot, I was only asking really because he had a proper fit of the giggles the other night and I realised it was only the second or third time I'd heard him laugh, and the first time he'd ever laughed himself silly.

I guess I'll just have to work harder for the laughs!

DS wasn't very giggly as a baby, the complete opposite now :)
