I really need so advice or tips from people who have been through the same thing! My little girl is 2 and a half and doing amazingly well at the peeing part of potty training! Never has accidents and always tell you when she needs to go Smile but when it comes to doing a poo she is literally terrified and cries and cries bout doing it! She almost holds it in til she can't any longer! I am worried about her getting unwell as the past few days she has been complaining of a sore tummy, for this reason I I've given her a nappy to try and at least get it out but she now won't Even do that Hmm HELP PLEASE lol I just don't know why road to go down with it! Thanks xx

You need Poo goes to Poo-land! Worked a treat for my DD after weeks and weeks of distress!

DD thought poo goes to pooland was hilarious but made sod all difference. I don't have any particularly good advice but wanted to let you know she is 2.7 and started potty training late august. Has also done fine with pee, but we are only just now hesitantly cracking the poo part. She doesn't like it, and we've done reward charts not because it works, but just because it makes her a bit more smiley after the awfulness of having to do one. So basically, we prob have an accident about once a fortnight, she's only pooed at nursery once so far and has a tendency to hold it in for 2-4 days about once a fortnight too. Feels like progress!

We hd this with ds. I sat on toilet with him in potty next to me. We sang songs, counted things and 'pushed together'. It worked!

Dd was dry at 2 but always asked for a nappy to pooh in.
We offered her the potty each time but she opted for the nappy.
So last week at 2.8 she finally poohed in the potty out of the blue.

The motivation? She likes us to light a birthday candle and sing happy birthday then blow it out!
So I'd say be patient and bribe.
It will happen eventually.

Dd used to ponder who her poo would be happiest to see first when it got to Poo-land - daddy poo or mummy poo. She spent a lot of time talking down the toilet GrinConfused.

We eventually had success by first reading pooland, then waiting till it was clearly getting pretty desperate, and then letting DD watch peppa pig on the tablet. Multiple attempts required. And I told her that everyone learns this, and that I wasn't worried because there was no way she would leave for secondary school without this sorted out! I shit you not. That very day: 2 major accomplishments, which DH PHOTOGRAPHED and emailed to me (!! delete, delete). I was out for the evening and DH was very relieved that poo had occurred in the correct location only.

afussyphase · 14/11/2013 23:25

Oh - and 5yo DD1 asked me very earnestly in all seriousness if there is really a pooland. Ummmm...

PlanningMama · 14/11/2013 23:26

Try a reward method. If she loves stickers offer a sticker each time she "poos" in the potty.

NSLAB · 15/11/2013 20:26

Thanks everyone ?? good to know this is normal then! Makes me feel a lot better... Will defo give all these things a try and see how it goes. Thank you again x

We haf this with dd back in the spring. It was the most frustrating part of parenting I have yet encountered! ! In the end persistence (making her sit on the potty for up to about half an hour at a set time of day really helped as sje got into a routine). We had books songs, the kindle to watch, anything which encouraged her to sit back there. We also used serious bribery- a princess doll- so even though she didn't want to do it, she REALLY wanted the doll. Now she happily takes herself off for a poo each day with no drama...it was a long journey though!!!

Lurkymclurker · 17/11/2013 17:46

Going through this with 2.2 dd at the moment, she spent the first month port training doing wees perfectly but poo she would literally wait until her body takes over sometimes that would be on the loo/potty others in pants.

She is just getting consistent with poo on the potty now after 6-7 weeks of no nappies - she finds it really hard to decide between wind and poo still which does lead to some accidents but I'm told it will get better!

Lurkymclurker · 17/11/2013 17:47

Oh an bribery/stickers/presents/iPad/books have no effect on dd - she won't sit on the loo/potty unless she damn well wants too - no matter what I do!
