If he was induced at 35 weeks then really he is more like 4 months old and both 4 & 5 months old is young to be sitting and rolling. I had full term girls and one of them didn't sit independently until she was 11 months old!

Try not to worry too much it could all be innocent. How tall are the people in your extended family and your partner's extended family, do they tend to be long bodied with short legs etc? Genetics can play a huge factor.

Any idea how long until the paeditrician appointment comes through?

hiya I thought that about sitting up it was the rolling they were more concerned about I have 3 other children and there all tall im 5.6 and his dads 5.11 everyone in both sides of family are tall or above average I didn't have him till nearly 37 weeks so he was only out by 4days he also has a flat head his head follows his neck I wouldn't be so worried if the hospital didn't scare me saying he has to have x rays and to look at devolopment I should get appointment threw before 6wks thanks for replying

My DD was full term and didn't roll until 8 months. She just didn't get it. My friend has a DS born at 35 weeks and he is only rolling now at 9 months and can't sit up yet. I wouldn't worry too much, just try gentle encouragement through play and he will get there eventually!

When you have your next doctor's appointment, try to write down in advance for yourself what you want to know and then do not get up out of the chair at your appointment until you have all your questions answered and you feel clear on everything. It can be so hard in the appointment to think of what to ask, but it's the job of health workers to answer your questions, so don't leave, even if you feel like they're sort of trying to shoo you out. With most things like this, babies are completely fine, but the doctors just want to be absolutely sure that it's not something serious.

In pau the doctor was saying they very concerned concidering he only went in for his breathing was asking me about his head shape ECT I've been racking my brain for a few days now it has worried me

My 13 month girl doesn't roll, for what it's worth.

MrsSpencerReid · 10/11/2013 12:16

My DS was born at 35w and was the last of his peers to do everything (lazy!) he is fine and at 18m you can't tell he was early, my friends little boy is 14 months, he walks, talks, never crawled a cm and I'm not sure about rolling! What I'm trying to say is all babies are different, it's prob good to get him check over just in case, and I think you'd worry otherwise. In the meantime enjoy your little one while he stays where you put him Grin

stephobell1989 · 10/11/2013 12:41

Lol I agree he is lazy he just gaining weight like there's no tomorrow rashes every where now as U can imagine chunkiness as well as teething nit the best combo if it was just 1 thing I wouldn't worry its just he has very small legs got a in wards eye tongue tie that's ryt at the front of his tongue throws up most his bottles aswell as his breathing he has had sepsis and croup and bronculitus just alot gone on in a space of a few months I pointed out he had small legs from very early on and it was just brushed off and now he has to have x eays ECT im not happy nothing has been sorted for him before hand when I clearly pointed out about things as a mother you know when somethink ain't right I also have a 7year old son who is autistic

Tbh, if he's been that sick I would expect him to be a bit behind, all his energy has gone into getting better, I'm sure rolling etc has been the last thing on his mind! Sounds like you've got a lot going on and I really hope it's all stress for nothing! Pesky children Smile

misspontypine · 10/11/2013 19:45

My ds has tiny legs, his body looks double the size. Me and dp have short legs/long bodies so I imagine that is why ds is tge same.

I'm sorry you are having such a worrying time.

stephobell1989 · 10/11/2013 19:56
