will she chew a flannel? I have resorted to a dab of toothpaste on a flannel in the bath (figure anything better than nothing)

10 months old, also 2 bottom ones here.

I did manage to get the toothbrush in there last night with some gentle persuasion! Smile

still refusing, it takes 2 of us to brush her teeth, impossible when I'm on my own! Sad

We've been through this too. Is she teething again? DS was much more resistant to having his existing teeth brushed when his gums were tender because there were more on the way. He's 17 months now and sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's hard - we do the best we can twice a day and try not to stress about it.

At present, our technique involves him having a brush, me having a brush and him sitting on my knee while I hold a book for us to read. He gets to 'brush' for a page, then I get to brush for a page! It's not quick, but works for now!

Prior to using the book, we also had the two brush technique but if he was reluctant for us to have a brush, we'd tickle him or make him laugh and then sneak a quick brush in the window of opportunity while his mouth was open!

Not sure if any of this will work with your DD as she's a bit younger, but you never know!

great idea but my DD still likes to 'attack' books when she sees one!
I've tried distracting with toys, dh tried tickling her to make her laugh.
I did wonder if she was teething, she was showing signs last week, refusing to sleep in her cot, chewing loads more then normal, dribbling ( she was doing all this about a week before her first two popped through so I do wonder if this is her teething 'routine'...obviously I'll still try yo brush her tetth coz, well, they need to be brushed! Lol.

any ideas when I'm supposed to take her to the dentist? I read as soon as their teeth appear but that seems mad to me! taking a 6 month baby to the dentist? ( that's when her first 2 appeared)

DS came to the dentist with me about 6 months ago (maybe a bit longer, can't remember for sure), so when he was around a year old, and had his first check up - essentially the dentist popped a finger in his mouth and made a quick check of how many teeth he had. All without losing a finger - I was quite impressed as he was teething and quite nibbly at that point!

We'll be going again next month, assuming I remember to book the appointment. He's also been before that when I went for some work to be done. He goes with DH when he goes for his checkups too. I like him to go as often as possible so he gets used to the sights, sounds and smells before we actually need him to go, if you know what I mean.

Also, when I was kid I used to love going to the dentist Blush . Weird, I know, but I'd like him to be the same if possible!
