My ds is 14mths and seems to be going off his milk. He was having an 8oz bottle, morning and night but now he's struggling to finish 5oz.
When my dd's did this i started to pit chocolate milkshake in it, just enough to flavour it, but i don't want to do that if at all possible. Any ideas ???

Perhaps try a cup?
Or maybe he is eating lots and doesn't need to fill up as much.
Don't they say that half to one pint a day is enough after a year?

Erm yeah i think so, how many ounce is that though ?? He has his juice/water in a cup.

I've read that after a year around 11 oz is enough. If he's not quite making that, top it up with yoghurt, cheese, milk in cereal, etc. You're probably doing that already!

Thinking about it he has loads of milk on his cereal, so he probably doesn't need to be drinking that much now.

Hi Nutcraker, my ds did this. SO I started adding milk to everything I could! Even in his dinner (like with mashed potatoe for instance) and that is how I made up the 11oz. I also started giving him sips of cool milk in his favourite winni the pooh cup. Because of the novelty of it this worked.
Then out of the blue he started drinking it ok again!

dd, 17 months, has gone off milk too. She had tonsillitis a few weeks ago and although now is eating normally again she's been totally off milk. Maybe having 4oz in total a day now. So I'm trying to make sure she gets lots of cheese, etc. But as she's a small eater, I'm also going to try some different types of milk like rice or soya milk fortified with calcium, they're supposed to be ok for this age. Otherwise I'll be making chocolate milk shakes too!

My DS2 gave up b/feeding at 16 months and will not drink milk at all. I try to make sure he has yoghurt, cheese on toast, things in cheese sauces and he has either weatabix or porridge in the morning so gets quite a bit of milk with breakfast. He is now 20 months and doesn't seem to be suffering from not drinking milk, he is still an energetic, healthy and fairly pudgy wee boy.

Your DS may go back to drinking milk of course but if he doesn't I hope our experience will help put your mind to rest.

as a mum to 3 boys who hated milk from birth!!!!!....... i agree add milk/cream/cheese to loads of things and fromage frais mixed in milk is a 'health' milkshake!!! Also i say don't worry....ds1 (the worst!!! for milk) has none on cereal (dry!!!!) and he is on the 75 centile growth line - and ds3 who eats the most dairy produce is on the 25 line----point being ...they are all different!!!
