I'm just wondering how other people are doing it? My lo is 7 months. She use to sleep trough and i was able to put her to bed and she got herself off. Every since we moved houses( 2 m ago) she wakes up every 2 hours and is screaming when put to bed on her own. Only way i can get her to sleep is feeding(bf)or force cuddle her to sleep. She seems to hate sleeping and is constantly fighting against it. What's your bed time routine like, if you got one? And how old was your lo when he/she slept trough? And any tips would be good. Thank you Smile Smile

I only ever recommend the pick up put down method as it doesn't involve leaving them to cry, another one to consider is the gradual withdrawl.

I would stop feeding her to sleep though because she'll then need that to get herself to sleep throughout the night and only you can do that!!

I have tried picking up putting down but it hasn't worked for us coz when put back down she starts crying and even picking up won't calm her and I don't want to let her cry at all :(

What is gradual withdrawl about?

Start of by cuddling her to sleep, then by half cuddling I guess, then just touching her, then next to her, then in the room but buy the open door, then outside the door, then with the door shut.

Obviously this can take a week or so per stage!

With pick up put down, you will just need to cuddle her until she does calm down again even if does take ages.

If she is under one, then I think feeding in the night is OK. Do what you need to do to get her to sleep.

I'm afraid though it sounds like your LO is now old enough to realise what happens at bedtime - that you go off and leave her - and of course she is protesting against that. From about this time is the start of separation anxiety. It goes on till they are around 3!

My son is two today. He first slept through at about 17 months. With a blip for 6 weeks at 22 months. But the last two nights he has slept through, alleluia.

TBH the idea of a 7 month old sleeping through seems like a miraculous fantasy to me, since mine were both 17-19 mths when they did it.

I know that it's a bit much to hope her to sleep trough but hey at least I can hope.. lol
so last night was success. It took us 2 h 30 m but she fell a sleep on her own bed. I was very impressed we had no tears I did sat by her bed the whole time and was cuddling her through the bed bars every now and again plus stroking but she did it! And woke up only 3 times lol Hopefully tonight won't take so long.

Glad you had some success.

See mine all slept through from a very young age and did my utmost to let them fall asleep by themselves in their cots because by the time I got to #4 I just couldn't give them the time needed to cuddle/rock etc. feeding them to sleep was what I did when out and about and they were shattered and fighting a nap.

They all developed their own comforters/routines that they used to get to sleep which meant either dh or I could put them to bed or see to them during the night (apart from bf for the first few months).
