Hi folks,
Im 38 weeks pg with number 2 and my biggest concern is how DS will cope without me as he's not used to being with anyone else (other than DH who will be with me)
My plan is to get my folks to drive down (about 3 hours away) and for a friend to come over with her DC until they arrive but I would feel happier leaving quite a structured day of activities for DS...so far I have assembled the following:

colouring book
pens / stickers / stamps
sticker / activity books
play doh and cutters
selection of books
duplo
farm animal figures and farm board
cars / garage

extra activities:
washing his plastic fruit in a bowl
teddy bears picnic
tv / dvd

can anyone add to this list? I would rather have more than less things...any tips on how ds can deal with this situation better would be great too!!
Thanks!

that all sounds like stuff that would entertain my DS (2.8), also he's just got really into dot-to-dots, building blocks, helping me bake etc

just wanted to reassure you though that he'd never been away from me when his sister was born a year ago (so he was 20.5 months) and he coped just fine, was a little shy when I first came in and didn't want to interact straight away but had a great adventure with my DB and SIL and he's a really sensitive and sort of clingy DC (at the moment anyway, he may well grow out of it) - I was really worried about him and hated being apart but he was absolutely fine, hopefully your DS will be the same, it'll be such an adventure they'll only need the activities to distract him if he gets a bit upset Grin

thanks for the reassurance...im trying not to go too mad with the "instruction manual" but its so odd not to be with him all the time and not know that he's ok!! i'm going to try to organise a morning or afternoon playdate on the day so a friend can come over and help DM look after him...so funny that this is my main worry!!

A toolkit? Small boys can sit and bash pots or just about anything with a plastic hammer for hours! Don't worry, you might be like me with your second and go into labour at 1.30am, neighbour came over to babysit sleeping ds1, dd2 born less than 3 hours later, dh back home to see ds1 for breakfast! Wink
