I went from formula in a bottle to cows milk in bottle, then moved from a teat to. Sippy cup nozzle thing. That was only for her nighttime bottle, other drinks were given from a sippy or open cup. We didn't notice any disruption, thankfully.

HTH

I found no problems when switching to cows milk (formula milk is actually cows milk anyway). You can switch over today if you like. You could do half formula today and then 1/4 formula tomorrow and by Sunday be on just cows milk.

You might find switching to a beaker more difficult - it's probably best to do one thing at a time. I switched to a beaker at 10months with dd1, but left it after 1yr with ds & dd2 and found it much more difficult (so gave up trying in the endShock)

You'll love it - no more sterilising, no more making up bottles - so much easier!

Sorry, I should add that it would be fine to just give a whole bottle of cows milk tonight if you want to, or you can do the gradual thing... Little one probably won't notice a thing!

Don't worry about the beaker yet. I just swapped straight to cows' milk both times and had no problems. I used the baby bottles until the teats wore out and then replaced one by one with a sports bottle. In fact, DD2 is 21 months and I've just thrown out the last, knackered Tommee Tippee bottle

stupid question but should u sterilise the beaker? my ds loves drinking water from his beaker so hoping this might be ok.

No, abandon the steriliser! :)

I'm having a nightmare getting dd from breast milk to cows milk. She looks confused, throws it, climbs on my knee and pulls my top.

Any ideas?
(Sorry for the hijack!)

You don't need to sterilise anything now! Yippee!

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 18/10/2013 15:17

Mrsostrich if you're still happy breastfeeding you don't have to give your DD cow's milk. I've tried giving it to my DS who's now 16 months and he's having none of it. I use cow's milk in cooking so things like cheese sauce and porridge.

Thanks that helpful.

I'm trying to stop the night feeds (still 4+ a night) and she is increasing her feeds during the day too now and its hard to say no!
