Just a little thing he has where anything in the past tense has it's "ed" ending and then another one for good measure!
Should he have grown out of it by now? Any cause for concern?

What does his teacher think? I think that children make silly grammatical errors up to the age of six.

No cause for concern IMO, just model the correct form and he should get the hang of it.

My 5yo son does the same. And we stayed with some friends at the weekend and their little boy, also 5, does exactly the same thing!

I do correct him but at the same time I find it quite endearing! I don't think it's cause for concern...just correct him and he'll grow out of it. This is what I'm telling myself!

I do correct him but it seems to be an ingrained habit. And yes, it is very cute. I might ask the teacher and see what she thinks.

I think at that age it's still cute and totally normal - but obviously you should model the correct form yourself. I have known some adults who copy their children's mistakes because they are cute Hmm so they reinforce them.

Sadly some adults never quite work out how to do the past tense of some verbs - just look at the number of people on here facebook who think the past tense of 'to text' is 'text'.
