Baby still 'jittery' at 6 weeks old

So when ds3 was born, the midwife asked a paedetrician to check him over as he was jittery in his lower lip which trembled and his limbs.

He was checked over for calcium and low blood sugar. Both came back fine and normal. The jitteriness is a little bit like when you stretch, or sometimes my leg jitters if I am resting on it funny. That's what ds's jitters reminds me of, it's not constant and like a tremble really.

Ds3 was 6 weeks old on Saturday. His jitteriness is less, but still there in his right leg. Not constantly, but seems to be there especially during nappy changes, after the bath or if picked up a bit quickly or when he is stretching. He doesn't jitter when he is relaxed.

We've got our 6 week post partum dr check next week, but I just wondered if anyone had any experience of jittery babies? It doesn't last long, just a second or two and nothing else seems different, behaviour wise.

Any thoughts appreciated,thankyou.

DS3 was quite jittery to start with. He also had the blood tests and a a couple of days in SCBU for low birth weight and bloood sugar issues. The jitters improved with time and had disappeared by the time he was three months old. He had a couple of sessions with a paediatric cranial osteopath, which seemed to help, but perhaps it would have resolved anyway. I know it's a bit unsettling to see them jitter when they are so tiny.

To be honest, I'm not overly concerned, as there isn't anything else that seems 'odd' and the fact it's only when he is more agitated or stretching makes me think its just his nervous system developing. But I just googled it, which is what has unnerved me (sites talking about epilepsy and brain damage).

I was concerned he is still jittery at 6 weeks old too, I thought it was a newborn, rather than baby thing. However, your post is reassuring threebeegee, thankyou for taking time to post. Was considering asking to bring the 6 week check early, but I think I will wait until next Monday.

My DD had jittery legs when she was born - usually when I touched her feet. She was low birth weight and had blood sugar checked at birth, but all was fine. She's almost 4 months now, and I honestly can't remember when the jittering stopped (but she doesn't do it anymore), but I'm pretty certain she was still jittery at 6 weeks
