We have used Eskimo oil for 18 months now and I think there is a change in behaviour when we forget. Tutti frutti flavour works here but I know some children don't like it.

thanks mamacheeks - is that tablet or liquid form, also where do you get them from??
i'm going to try health food place as i tried pharmacy and they only had capsules and was mega-expensive Shock
don't mind spending money on them, but £10 for a tiny bottle was a bit obscene!!

We get them from revital online. They're not cheap but a bottle seems to last ages. It's a liquid.

Although they don't contain fish oils, the NHS provides Healthy Start vitamin drops for every child between 6 months and 5 years at a nominal cost.

As far as I understand current research, there are no benefits to giving fish oils to children. They need the oily fish as part of their diet to benefit.

I also use Eskimo oil. Get it from amazon. It's not cheap but at only one teaspoon a day it lasts ages.

We had tutti frutti but they do orange too. I just add it to DS 16m milk and he drinks it no bother.

It doesn't smell fishy and its a liquid not capsules. No idea if its made a difference, we have used it since 12m but just think "why not!"

Really star girl? Everything I read said it was beneficial. We don't eat a lot of fish tho, I hate the stuff and DS eats what we eat or all hell breaks loose!

i've read an awful lot on this over the last few days, and the general reckoning is that it does have some benefits??

i'm not at all concerned about my daughter's behaviour etc but after reading all this i have realised that she has no fish in her diet (its not something we eat in our household so it has never been introduced to her) and therefore think the supplements will be beneficial in that respect??

Link below. My apologies as it isn't clickable. I'm unsure how to create a clickable link on my phone.

DD really enjoys a few oily fish meals. I make mackerel fish fingers using a tin of mackerel in oil with flour, egg, breadcrumbs. She also likes smoked mackerel with creme fraiche and chives on pitta bread. In addition, I make a fish paste in food processor with tinned sardines (in oil), tomatoes, fresh basil and lemon again on pitta bread.

Salmon is also good for fish oils. Fish fingers as above, salmon with pesto, salmon with pasta, cream cheese and peas, fish cakes, fish pie, etc. Nigella has an amazing salmon kedgeree recipe which I LOVE!

The latest leaflet I got from the HV said girls should only have 2 portions of oily fish a week but boys could consume 4 portions a week.

DD eats really well, all vegetables, potatoes, every kind of fruit, cheese, milk, meat, just doesn't eat fish - i'll give those supplements a go and see how we get on :) x
