10mo refusing all formula...anyone else had this??

DS is 10mo and is ff. well, he was ff. for the last 3 days he has refused ALL formula. He was only have 2 bottles per day anyway (on waking in the morning and before bed) but he has suddenly decided that he HATES it and will not drink a drop.

Have tried it at different temperatures, out of a sippy cup and it all meets the same response: angry pushing it away, even tears.

No idea what to do now! Anyone ever heard of a FF baby having a 'nursing strike'??

Incidentally DS is fully weaned on 3 meals per day and I try to give him lots of cheese, milk yoghurt etc. and he has vitamin drops cos since about 8mo he was having much less formula than the recommended amount (despite my best efforts).

Please help!

Yes dd1 plus two other babies of friends. Not much you can do, I'm assuming you've tried the bottle before breakfast? It didn't work for me with her Hmm but just in case..... I just tried to relax - I'm 36 so was on cowsmilk at 6 months anyway and seemingly survived.

Bizarrely she is now 4 and drinks loads of milk Confused.

Hi BotBot - any chance he is teething? sometimes my dd won't suck (on boob or on bottle) when she's teething, I think it hurts her if her jaw is swollen or something.

I'd go with teething too. Formula ice pops? Don't make a thing of it or you'll just have a battle you can't win. Had this with a 7 month old, tried everything but no go. Think we just battled for too long and then it became a thing.
Will he drink anything?

Thanks ladies - yes minipie he is teething (seems like he is always bloody teething at the moment!)...has just in the last couple of days cut through teeth numbers 7 and 8. But usually once I can see them, the worst is over pain-wise iykwim?

Also, he seems happy enough to suck on a dummy which makes me think sucking probably isn't the issue. I am taking him to see GP to rule out any kind of ear problem (he is also tugging at his right ear a lot but I thought that was a teething thing too...no other signs of illness).

oscar yes he is continuing to drink water out of his tippy cup when I offer it with meals and several other times during the day. Doesn't seem like a lot of fluid to me but I presume he is also getting lots of fluid from the fruit he eats too. He is pooing and weeing fine, and has lots of dribble so I don't think he is dehydrated.

Don't you just love it when they change it up like this and make things so complicated??!

hmm yes I agree the worst is usual over once they've cut through... worth seeing GP or HV if it continues, can't do any harm.

yes they do like to keep things interesting... Hmm
