Teething - how long will 1st tooth take to come out?

LO is 4 months but I feel like she has been teething for about a month. In the past few days she seems to be in much more pain and dribbles etc. How much longer left for the tooth to come out? Confused

um, that depends.

I'd say generally between 6-8 months, they tend to have few teeth by a year.
but it varies greatly

mine seemed to be teething forever!
DS3 was the longest, he was 14 months and two weeks old when his first tooth appeared!

DS2 was earliest - the day he was 6 months old.

the teeth constantly move in the gum, way before the teeth appear.
some kids are forever drooling and dribbling, some have no signs then all hell brakes loose for about a week as the tooth actually cuts through.

I use Dentinox gel and Calpol for pain relief.
there's not much you can do.

DS has been unbelievably slavery for a good couple of months now and will gnaw anything he can get his hands on. He's 6 months next week and his first tooth suddenly made an appearance last weekend! There was no obvious sign of pain from him Smile but he was a bit more clingy than usual. I'm hoping the rest will come in as easy.

I reckon dd was 2-3 weeks before the first one came through when she was 4 months. The first ones seem to be the easiest, she's now 20 mths and her last 4 are on the way, sleep has been disturbed & she's been chewing fingers (luckily her own) the last couple of days...

Not quite as bad as Miaow but DD was drooling and chewing constantly from about 8 weeks and first tooth arrived 9 months. Also.... They can be right there, about tocome through, even stick a tiny peak trough the skin AND THEN VANISH AGAIN!!! Nobody warned me about that but it happened at least twice...

Oh gosh Confused! I'm not looking forward to it. What's the best remedy? I've been using nelson's teething granules and gel but I'm not sure if it is helping.

Yep teething powders are amazing.
For the pre molars & molars we've given calpol/ibuprofen at bedtime on occasion. Guess it depends on how miserable your dd is or whether she gets a temp/referred ear pain with the teething, though I think that's less common with the first teeth.
