Toilet accident - totally out of character - should I worry?

Ds, nearly 6, has not had an accident in at least two years, today had a complete loss of control. Just as we arrived home from school, literally on our driveway he said "Mummy I need to do a wee", and couldn't even hold on until we got into the house, or get himself out to pee in a corner, but just let everything go at once. He was not particularly happy (but not hugely bothered either, maybe because I didn't make a fuss), but what worries me is that he said he had absolutely no warning or feeling that he needed to go before he told me.

The only time I've ever come across this before is when the same thing happened to me in Sainsbury's three weeks after dd was born. But then it was sort of understandable! What's going on with ds?

UTI?

These things happen. I wouldn't worry if it's just a one-off.

Can you have a UTI with no other apparent symptoms? He seems perfectly well in himself.

Don't worry about it. Obviously he miss-timed the call of nature. It's happened to my daughter(6) a couple of times, usually when she has been totally absorbed by an activity. Don't worry

As a one-off I wouldn't worry about it but if it continues then I'd take him to the GP. As a one-off it could be just that he couldn't hold on as long as he thought he could, and was then too embarrassed to own up. If it continues it could be a sign of a UTI or some other waterworks problem.
