Rolling onto front

So my 6.5 month old keeps rolling on to her front at night. She's not so good at going the other way so gets stuck... She's crawling-ish (ie can move around the floor especially backwards but slowly and doesn't really know what she's doing). So she's pretty strong even if rolling isn't her thing.

I am inclined to relax about her rolling on to her front to sleep. But another bit of me worries about cot death. Views?

once they reach 6 months it is ok to let them find their own sleep position. You are still supposed to put them on their back at the start of sleep time though

DD did this at the same age, now 8.5 months old. I always put her down to sleep on her back but when I go to check her 5-10 mins later she's always fast asleep on her front. I wouldn't worry even if she doesn't roll onto her back she'll be strong enough to lift her head and turn it to the side. She may just be more comfortable on her front Smile

My 6mo son is the same - he likes to sleep on his tummy now, but has problems turning back over as he can't seem to work out where his arm needs to be so it isn't in the way!

The main thing is that their neck muscles are strong enough to lift their head and shift into a position where their airways are clear though - other than that I leave him to it, and give him literally hours of time on the floor during the day in the hope that one day he'll get the hang of it.

my dd has been doing this since she was about 2 months, she would somehow manage to get onto her side then onto her front. shes 11 months now and sleeps with her head buried in bed, her bum in the air with her arms and legs tucked under her and her covers are all over the bed with none on her. doesn't matter what we do she always ends up like this.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though - maybe check in on them every hour or so before you got to bed.
