Don't they like doing the same thing over and over again anyway? Grin I think that's the issue! What about making him an Heuristic Basket? Or as they're called on MN a "Wnaky Basket" here

DS is 10 months so will be watching this thread with interest to see what ideas other MNetters come up with. We have a new sideboard in the sitting room (to replace an extremely baby-unfriendly shelving unit) and as we haven't got round to filling the cupboards with our clutter yet I fill them with bits and pieces for him to explore. He loves emptying them and just paying with opening and closing the doors. In fact emptying stuff generally is always a winner - my make-up bag being a particular favourite.
Our spare duvets are squashed into fabric dry cleaners bags and I put these on the floor for him to clamber around on. Any large cushions or beanbags would do.
And if all else fails he loves a game of crawl chase (does what it says on the tin!).

Forgot to mention - crawl chase is great for wearing him out before nap/bed time!

Ha ha we used to do crawl chase with Dd when she was that age Grin She loved her treasure basket too. Must sort out a new basket for poor neglected Dc2!

Can you give me ideas for what you put in a basket? I'm going to do this for my nearly 2 year old! She loves "stuff", always has done as does her brother.

Plastic and wooden kitchen utensils work well, as do little toys and books. The Thompson Directory was the one thing we has shoved in our cupboard and DS loves tearing it up, which I don't mind as we never use it. Bits of safe packaging and wrapping - little boxes, paper bags, big plastic bubbles - are also good.
