Dd will be 3 in Nov. she has a very, very trong lisp. you can see actually the tongue sticking out with certain speech sounds.

is this still normal at that age or worth seeing a SALT about it?

Not a SALT, but just thought I'd reassure you that all my dc still lisped at that age, and had all sorts of defects in their speech.

Dc1 was particularly difficult to understand. At 2 he could speak full, grammatical sentences and discuss abstract concepts, but people thought he was still pre verbal because he was incomprehensible to anyone who did not know his 'language' of lisps, 'aws' (Rs), and other defects.

At 11 he was giving speeches to 700 prospective parents and Y6s, and every word was clear.

Of all my dcs' speech defects, the lisps bothered me the most. I would play games with them, getting them to say 's' tongue twisters while keeping their teeth shut together. I don't know whether that's an approved technique, but it helped them learn the correct way of positioning the tongue, and was extremely silly good fun. As long as their speech was refining all the time, I didn't worry. Had there been a year without improvement I would have been concerned and looked for professional help.
