Which Baby Swing?

Hi all,

Were looking for a baby swing to help assist our 5 week old boy to sleep during the day better and keep him active.

At 5 weeks he tends to cry randomly for no reason and it seems only feeding him is the solution.
He even cries when he is completely exhausted but wont fall asleep until literally his been fed again or we are moving around with him.

Were hoping a baby swing should assist in getting a better sleep pattern for him...

We haven't got a swing but ds 8 weeks has most his daytime naps in a wrap sling it has literally saved my sanity! He sleeps really well and it enables me to structure his naps a bit and get him to sleep before he becomes overtired. It also means I can get on with things whilst he sleeps!

I bought a swing for my 6wk old dd for exactly the same reason. It hasn't made a blind bit of difference, she just cries after five minutes. I'm desperately hoping she gets used to it and it wasn't a waste of money... Hopefully you'll have more luck with yours though haha! Grin

My ds has never slept in his swing. He loves his baby carrier though.
Have you had him checked by gp, could be silent reflux

None! Your dc will just rely on the motion to sleep. I got one for dc1 and she was a nightmare to settle for a ling time. Dc2 was placed in cot rite away, no rocking/swinging allowed and he self settled sooo much better!

Afraid my dd wouldn't settle in a swing either...

Sounds like he may be overtired - make sure you're trying to get him to sleep early enough, ie after he's been awake for 30/45 mins max at that age. use pram or sling or feeding to get him to sleep if necessary, it's more important to get the right amount of sleep into him first (which is loads!) then when he's not overtired you can work on self settling if you want.
